To say Canadian wildlife artist Edward Spera and his wife Lisa Elliott have a little passion for travel would be an understatement of huge proportions. Edward’s creations are directly inspired from travels across the globe. Numerous research trips have taken this couple across Africa, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Southeast Asia, China, Tibet, North, South & Central America. They are on the go for three to four months a year to worldly locations most of us only dream of. Their latest journey in February/March 2010 was concentrated in the Himalayas in search of rare and elusive Snow Leopards, incredibly successful in seeing four of them, and scuba diving the Red Sea off the coast of Egypt. From these adventures Edward is able to take moments of time and turn them into detailed wonders of art which are showcased at Edward Spera Gallery on Queen St. in Niagara Falls. Edward and Lisa also bring back unique artifacts, jewellery and treasures from these exotic locations which are for sale in their galleries. A visit to Edward Spera Gallery will take you on a wonderful adventure and open a small window into exciting tribal cultures and mesmerize you with the incredible beauty of the creatures that share this world with us. This adventurous couple is extremely hands on with the gallery operations and you can find them at their locations on a regular basis when they are in the country. Both are more than willing to share a tale or two about their journeys and if your timing is right you can look over Edward’s shoulder as he creates one of his masterpieces as he has studio space setup right in the gallery. The next adventure will take them back to India where they have been following the life of a Tigress and her three cubs over the last two years. Then back to Africa rounding out the year with a visit to Rwanda trekking for Mountain Gorillas. With one incredible experience after another, Edward and Lisa insist they have only scratched the surface. A special thanks to The Niagara Magazine for providing this fabulous photo!
